People say that we are "cutters" and that this is not acceptable behavior but I question if this is correct. I have been giving thought to midievil times and back then they used "bloodletting" as a form of cure for many different ailments. Is "cutting" so different? When we "cut" it usually is followed by a calming effect allowing us to focus on greater problems at hand or even put them out of our minds completely. Is this only a psycological calming or could it have something to do with the fact that though the loss of blood we are able to bring ourselves back to our "center"? People seem to cut for many different reasons but it would appear that the end result is quite similar among the many case that are known. Are we actually harming ourselves or are we healing the problems we feel inside through an ancient form of release on the outside? Some of the tools used may be different but the outcome seems to remain the same. I"m sure there are many different opinions on this and I am interested in hearing from anyone that has a viewpoint on this subject. All responses would be greatly appriciated. Thank you for reading and posting.
