Hi folks... I just signed up here and I wanted to not only say hi (nice to "meet" you all!), but to ask for a bit of direction. To give you a quick backdrop, I first tried SI about 3-4 years ago at the unlikely age of 25, only heavily getting into about 2 years ago following an extremely tragic event. I've been to two seperate counselors over the last couple years and both of them did not (in my opinion) seem to take the problem very seriously, leaving me to my own devices. The past year I haven't done it at all, and thought myself "better." However, a week ago, I found myself using it as a coping mechanism (successfully, I'm sorry to say), and was wondering how many other people in my age bracket (or once in my age bracket) have "grown out" of this behavior or if it's something they've struggled with lifelong. Any advice would be much appreciated. I look forward to becoming an active member of this community... thanks for listening!
