I'm in Northern CA...After living in FLorida, and being Jamaican..IT IS FREEZING...My cat doesn't like the cold either..So I'm going to play with her SO BOTH OF US WILL CHEER UP...Its probably a combination of homesickness and the GREY skies...Keep every light on in the house...all the time...Its more electricity turning them on and off anyway......Get videos...I have to be very aware that I'm no SINKING INTO DEPRESSION....

i think the general unfamiliarity of your new surroundings and being so far from home is the main cause of your current unhappiness, rather than SAD. my advice would just be to stick it out as best you can, throw yourself into getting yourself established and in time the depression will alleviate. but if it persists for a really long time then reconsider, obviously.

Even being born in the midwest & living here all my life, I still prefer summer to cold. I just know it comes every year, I get bummed, but then I acclimate because there's not a lot to be done about it. The nice thing though is my son LOVES the snow, so I like to see him happy & enthusiastic. :) Plus I was happy to see the white blanket of snow compared to the bleak autumn days. There's something a little exhilarating to me about being able to run in snow. It reminds me of one summer when I was at the beach, & I used to jog in the sand. It's a little stretch of the imagination, but it can be done. It also helps that I'm confident with the winter driving. It's just the others I have to watch out for, which can be aggravating. The one thing I really don't like though is the ice. I don't like not being able to go anywhere & being stuck at home. No fun.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
