the downside -- if you overuse it it can cause headaches or sore eyes. got to be consistent not intermittent. for me it helps to use it as early in the morning as possible. but just picture me--feeling like a mole early in the cold winter morning blinking and squinting into the light...
from my research, it appears that 10,000 lux machines do the most good. sometimes you can find cheaper ones that are 5,000 lux and get two. i got mine from Verilux along with a book (I'll post the name of it when i find it again!!) AND after a whole lot of effort I also got reimbursed for the cost of it by my insurance co since i got my psydoc to write me a prescription for it.
