Scoliosis Support Group
Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.

I am a 48 year old female who has had Scoliosis since the age of 13 (please feel free to read my profile and journal entry). On June 4th I had a total spinal fusion, spent 4 months in my parents home as the first step in my recovery was wearing a TLSO Brace which limited me to what I could do for myself. Now I'm back in my apartment with my boyfriend and things are not going so well.
Recovery from this surgery is very difficult to say the least, and everything is bothering me. I feel that I may be suffering from Post Surgical Depression. I cry all the time, unable to make decisions, no ambition to do anything (tho I manage to get myself to physical therapy twice a week) but most everything else is to much to deal with. I think I've decided to ask my doctor to put me on an anti-depressant and maybe even seek psychiatric help.
Is there anyone else in the same situation and can offer any advise? I'm to the end of my rope here. I can't even handle being in a relationship right now and keep thinking about moving out. This will be difficult if not impossible as I am on disability and cannot afford to live on my own without additional government asistance.
Anybody with advice would be appreciated.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Any ideas for help???
