Scoliosis affects all ages. Unlike the naturally occurring curves in the spine, scoliosis causes the spine to curve abnormally to the left or right.

Hello,
My name is Janie and my 11 year old daughter was just told t day that she has a very bad case of scoliosis and some type of arthritis. They said her spine carves to the right and up in her neck her vertebras r- pushed down on each other. Her hip is about 2-3 in higher on the right side and it has missed up her right knee cap. They said she is in a growth spurt and that they really need to get in there and try to move it back? I am floored and just found this web site. I am hoping for some insight and also questions I should ask her DR. They think her arthritis is JRA. We will know more about that when her test comes back. She has been very sick the last 3 mo and we just now found out about this. We been to 3 DR and I guess no one looked to look for it. (1 family DR, 1 heart DR, 1 Lung DR) (They found a spot on her lung in Oct, could this be a symptom. I am so clue less Thanks for any help or words you can give us.

I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
My name is Mark. I'm 54 years old and have had severe scoliosis since I was about 13 or 14. I would like to pass along some advice that would have done me a lot better if I had been younger.
Have your daughter do touch toe exercises repeatedly about 50 to 100 times every other day. Also have your daughter do front ward and back wards somersaults on a padded floor perhaps 50 times every other day. These exercises will help keep your daughter's condition from getting worse and may even help undo some of the damage that has been done. They will help keep the muscles stretched and loose and keep the back limber. In this day & age and now that your daughter's condition had been caught at this early stage, you should be able to have enough corrections done to help your daughter have a relatively normal life.
