Hi, my 6 year old son was diagnosed with plaque morphea in Nov. 2009. He was put on topicals and oral systemic medications by his dermatologist and rheumatologist. Since January, he has taken a turn for the worse. The original site of the morphea was his forhead. He is now completely covered in lesions, is in pain on a daily basis in his joints and has severe stomach pain for 6 months. The dr's are telling us the joint pain and stomach is unrelated to the morphea. We are on our way to NYC to see a dermatologist and a rheumatologist after the insurance company wasn't able to make payment arrangements with Johns Hopkins. All of his blood work is coming back normal. He was severely anemic and that is under control now. He was also diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder in Nov. 2009 as well through a sleep study. They say his joints don't feel inflamed but he is on heavy anti-inflammatory drugs- could be false negatives on the blood work? Can anyone shed some light? Has anyone else experienced this kind of pain or stomach pain? I pulled him off all meds for a while and there was no change, so it is not the meds. Thanks!
