Sciatica Support Group
Sciatica is a term meaning pain that originates from compression of the sciatic nerve, the longest and largest nerve in the body. If the sciatic nerve is pinched or compressed (perhaps by a bulging disc in the low back) a patient may experience leg pain--the classic symptom of sciatica.

Has anyone sued their surgeon or know how I can get information about the process?
In April 2007 I had surgery to remove a synovial cyst that was causing sciatica in my left leg. In one of our conversations I told my surgeon I was concerned because I was also having some symptoms in my right leg and maybe that should be figured out before doing surgery. He said, "we'll just do one thing at a time". On the day of the surgery, I told him again that I thought there was something wrong on my right side as well as my left. Again he said, "we'll just do one thing at a time". After the surgery my left leg felt nearly perfect, but my right side kept getting worse. Yesterday I had an MRI and it shows another cyst pressing on my right sciatic nerve. I was right and that surgeon just didn't listen to me. Now I have to have another surgery. This time my regular (not surgeon) doctor thinks I should have a fusion (L-4 & L-5, I think) in addition to having the cyst removed. But what if all I really needed was to have both cysts removed during my first surgery in April?
How do I know if I just need the cyst removed or if I really need a fusion? I have had several doctors and nurses I know personally tell me that fusions are usually unnecessary and even harmful.
What do you think about suing the surgeon who wouldn't listen to me? The only witness is my son, who was there both times I told the surgeon there is something more going on, and I don't know which hospital personnel heard me say it to the surgeon at the hospital. I don't know who to talk to about all this.

I have been here before, a long long time ago and now I am back.Forgive me for not just saying what I want to say, even under a triple dose of antidepressants it is still raw and seeping and I am hesitant at revealing it as at least under the bandages around my heart I don,t have to look at how raw and wounded. My child was cleaved from my heart by his own actions. my child of ten, turning eleven...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
Also, i have seen a top ortho surgeon who diagnosed me with a cyst. he didn't operate. but did give me some insight.. they cannot cure them. they just remove them and odds are they will just keep coming back.
and they do not operate until the cyst causes a problem ( like your left leg ).
I will bet that he can find at least another 100 surgeons that will agree with him that your symptoms justified only dealing with one of the cysts.
