*help* symptom question

My cousin who is 8 years old started out with ADD then went to Bipolar. Just in the last three months he has been disturbing his class so bad that he cannot be in the class room, and he keeps on saying he is going to kill himself. You can't leave him alone just for a second. He tried to stabbing himself with a butcher knife a few days ago. He is not "there" most of the time, like he is off in another place. The doctor says that he might have to be put in a Psych care unit. We can't figure out if he is hearing voices or not.

If anyone knows what this might be, Please right back.

It sounds like a Bipolar episode. Manic. It is possible for a bipolar to have audible hallucinations during an episode. He probably does need a hospital visit. Do they have a special place for children?

He went to the doctor every week for 2 months. The only thing the doctor did was up his medication.
I don't know of any place for children.

All the docs really can do is up his meds or try new ones. In the hospital though they control his diet and sleeping habits. Make sure he is taking his meds on a regular basis. That is really what rehabilitated me. Sleeping and eating normal. He maybe up all night and eating less.

THe medication that he has it is up to 800 mg. That is a lot for a 8 year old. The sleeping medication that he has, he adapts to them in 2 weeks. He is already staying up past his bead time.

He could really use a hospital stay or even another Doctor.

Why hasn't the doctor arranged for an assessment the day your cousin tried to stab himself. He is to young to guarantee his safety he should be in hospital. For an eight year old this would be traumatic his safety has to come first and unless you are with him 24/7 he needs to be placed in a safe environment. BP can be treated with some affect on young children with drugs like epilim ( sodium valproate) or risperidone. Voices can be heard if he has a combination of schizophrenia and BP this is normally refered as schizoaffective this is traits of both

What does he watch on TV?and how much unsupervised TV is he watching?

    theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
