I have just been diagnosed with RA, after weeks in pain, that traveled throughout my body's joints. My RA factor on my blood work is 3 times higher than normal. My general doc is trying to control the inflammation and pain with prednisone and hydocordone until I can get in to see an RA doc. My problem is this stuff does not work well. My pain is all gone from everywhere except my left shoulder, arm and hand. Last night the inflammation and pain were so bad, even on the meds that I wanted to tear my arm off. It felt like someone was continually twisted my arm and shoulder completely around. Are there better drugs that my general doc can prescripe? Is there anything nutrition or physically wise that I can do when the pain is so intense to calm it down? I live 2 to 3 hours away from any RA docs, so it makes it very hard to get specialized help. Can anyone give me some advice?

I miss traveling with my husband. Has anyone found a specific site regarding cruising for widow/widowers or any sightseeing trips. Not interested in being with couples and kids,,,I realize a cruise ship will have a portion size of families and couples, but perhaps they also put together a part of the cruise ship for groups of widows/widowers????
