help. My mom is in 24/7 severe pain. She lives in her own apartment right now, but I have been knowing for the past several months that this is about to come to an end. I love her, but I can't live with her, therefore, I know I must try to figure out what to do next. I don't want to put her in a nursing home. I have done a great deal of research on assisted living situations. They are soooo expensive, and hard to get into when you don't have that kind of cash available at your fingertips. There is a benefit that is offered by the VA for war veterans and their spouses that I am also researching. This benefit is called The Veterans Affairs Aid and Attendance Special Pension, which provides tax-free cash assistance to wartime verterans and spouses or widows of veterans who need personal assistance at home or in an assisted-living or other car facility. With this extra money I would be able to pay someone to take care of my mom in her own apartment. Does anyone out there have a personal story of having to deal with a parent with RA that is now or is about to have to go to a facility for constant care? Thank you.
