Hi Charmlady, It is certainly worth a try -- give it up for a month or so and see how you feel. If you feel better, then stay off it. One nice side effect from people I know who are gluten free, is they are skinny as a rail! It seems virtually impossible to put on much weight when you eliminate gluten. I hope it works for you! Please give the group an update after you've tried this awhile.

Gluten......It's very hard to be on a gluten free diet. There is gluten in everything.ie. even in the meds we take. However, if you're a bread freak like I am it's good to buy at least the gluten free bread.. Chex makes gluten free cold cereals.

I am on a crash diet to lose weight I gained on prednisone. Normally I would not do this, but I am desperate.

So I cut out most of the carbs. No gluten. The second day, all my flares were completely gone. It could be coincidence or random change. It could be that was the day the Rituxan fully started working.

I am interested in challenging gluten after the wedding and I don't have to worry about the weight. This might be a breakthrough for me.

thanks for info - I don't feel like eating much of anything so when something sounds appealing, I eat it (within reason most of the time). If you're going to try this, please keep us updated.

Thanks for this info....I think it has good possibilities. Just a note....my older sister has had autoimmune disease (sarcadosis) for 25 yrs...she has quit wheat especially...it affects her breathing....her symptons from food allergies are quick & obvious to her. Now that we KNOW it is possible, I'm willing to give it a try...say 30 days?

I went on the Diet because I also read it would help with RA (I was just diagnosed in July)....I am not strict-strict I will eat french fries deep fried in the same oil as say chicken fingers, etc......but I did notice a difference in the severity of the flares AND it has completely changed my life regarding my colitis which I have been battling for 20 years.....I have been on the diet since October.....and due to the huge change in my digestive system...I will NEVER go off the diet!!!! without getting into details...it is amazing and I wish I tried it years ago!!!

I think the info on gluten & RA is so new, no one really knows, BUT am willing to try... Yes its super hard to find foods gluten free, however if you are in enough pain, you get to the point, you are willing to try anything to be in less pain..Thats where I am.... Not sure if its the answer or not, BUT I have cut out breads, grains, wheat in the last few days and I do notice less pain in the morning... Am I cured? No, never will be, but if this is a way to control it, I am all for it... Will keep yall posted...
