How do I stop my negative thoughts?

This is an answer to that question from Rhonda Byrne the author of 'The Secret':"If you have ever asked this question then you will feel such enormous relief in knowing the answer, because it is so simple. How do you stop negative thoughts? You plant good thoughts!
When you try to stop negative thoughts, you are focusing on what you don't want-negative thoughts- and you will attract an abundance of them. They can never disappear if you are focused on them.
The truth is alway simple and it is always easy. To stop negative thoughts, just plant good thoughts! Deliberately plant good thoughts! You plant good thoughts by making it a daily practice to appreciate all the things in your day. Appreciate your health, your car, your home, your job, your friends, your surroundings, your meals, your pets, and the magnificent beauty of the day.Compliment, praise, and give thanks to all things. As you plant more and more good thoughts, the negative thoughts will be wiped out. Why? Because your focus is on good thoughts, and what you focus on you attract.
So don't give any attention to negative thoughts. Don't worry about them. If any come, make light of them, shrug them off, and let them be your reminder to deliberately think more good thoughts now."

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

Just kidding. Although that is my favorite, I give my self positive things to do. I make a list. I'm a list person. When I'm down and can't seem to get those nasty thoughts out of my head I give myself a list of things to do. Sometimes it's a jobs list or somethings to do for myself. I check things off. i feel accomplished and my mind has been else where for awhile. Then at night, i say a silent prayer in my head of all the things I'm happy and thankful for. I often fall asleep, cause it goes on and on. I always thank God in the morning for helping me go to sleep. It's better than counting sheep or thinking of them together.
