If you or someone you know has been the victim of rape, this is the place to find support and get advice. If you want, discuss your experience, share your feelings, and meet others going through a similar situation.
I was wondering for those of you out there who prosecuted your attackers and they were found guilty, what type of sentences did they receive? I have no idea what to expect when mine eventually goes to trial.
I know they found DNA in my rape kit, and when they get a sample from his to compare it to, it will be a match. I know there are at least 4 witnesses who saw how we were acting towards each other at the gathering beforehand, who swear that I would never have had consentual sex with him, and that I was passed out drunk and sick when they all went to bed. I also have at least 1 (maybe more) witness who he told (before he knew about the DNA they found) that he hit me but we never had sex. 2 girlfriends in the past have had injunctions against him, but who are still with him (both of them, yes). Anybody who knows me and knows him knows what type of person he is and knows that I would not lie about this.
So I think we have a decent case against him(ONLY because they found the DNA which prooved intercourse took place. Without that the other stuff wouldn't matter, I'm sure.) But I have no idea what kind of sentence to expect...he has a nonviolent felony on his record, but no prior sex charges (although he has raped before).
