My mom is 74, PERFECT health/Last time in hospital to give birth 1964. Vegan, Walks 5 miles a day, gardens 3 hours aday, we have 6 cats. Very active mom. Took her in for Neck surgery 5/21. She went hypoxic 5/22, Apirated 5/23. Life support until 7/10, then put on TRACH, moved to sub acute home. She has now been diagnoised with PF? She had pysicals, chest x-rays etc..t EVERY SINGLE YEAR! She never had ONE symptom ever! She cannot speak, eat or swallow..so pill treatment is out of the question. She has so many secreations coming out of her lungs its amazing and terrifying. I cannot believe they cannot dry this out! The hypoxia caused brain dammage, but my main concern is this PF. Is this her life now on a TRACH with no food ever? My mom is my best friend, we have lived together for 10 years. I am trying to educate myself on all of this. Everything i read says pill treatment, transplant etc..my mom does not fall into any category, on how this happened. I almost feel as though the NECK FUSION surgery caused this. She was supposed to be home in 2 days its been 14 weeks...this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, and to see my mom like this knowing I cannot do anything...I feel as though this lung doctor is not doing enough, there has to be someway to get these secreations down, so she can at least have the Pasi MUR ball in her trach to speak. she is in dyer straights!

I miss traveling with my husband. Has anyone found a specific site regarding cruising for widow/widowers or any sightseeing trips. Not interested in being with couples and kids,,,I realize a cruise ship will have a portion size of families and couples, but perhaps they also put together a part of the cruise ship for groups of widows/widowers????
