I had bilateral pulmonary emboli in December and have been on coumadin. To add to that I have been using crutches because of an ankle injury since October. Well, I am scheduled to have ankle surgery on 5/21/08. Question? The doctor told me to stop the coumadin on Monday 4/14/08 and start lovenox on 4/16/08. After surgery I will start the coumadin again. Has anyone else had to go off coumadin for a while? What happened? Also has anyone had surgery/general anesthesia while they are going through this healing process. I welcome all responses because I am a little overwhelmed by it all.
