Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Does anyone ever feel a rattling in your lung when you breathe deeply? I felt it when I first got out of the hospital, mostly when I was lying down. It goes away for a while, but has returned a couple of times. It's not painful, just worrisome. I asked my lung Dr. about it and she listened and said it was fine. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this.

I didn't experience rattling. I wonder if it is the clot dissolving? Doctor didn't have a good answer, huh? I still deal with the pain--especially when I feel stressed at work. Keep us posted, though.

i get the rattle...i had an infarction along with my PE so there is some fluid stuck in the dead part of my lung...before the infarction i think the rattle was my lungs being irritated and producing excess mucus or whatever lines the lungs...it doesn't seem to be dangerous, just annoying...my doc couldn't really hear it, but wasn't worried

Yes, I get a rattle, but not all the time. I have asked my Dr about it but I can never get it to rattle whilst seeing her. Last visit it was rattling up to about 2 minutes before walking through the door, typical eh?

I get the rattling off and on - I am pretty sure it is part of my asthma that I have developed since having the PE. I am on asthma medicine, but still feel the rattle at times, especially if I take a really deep breath -it also seems to move around. I think you would need to worry if it were persistant, or accompanied by signs of infection such as cough, congestion, fever, pain, feeling short of breath.

Yes, I do. THe doctor (hematologist) said that it was no problem. However, who really knows.

hey there, yeah i got this too, but only really recently after the PE and it stopped after about 2 weeks. don't get it anymore. yeah, like complexit... i was told that it was also due to some trapped fluid and ws more a side effect of the plurisy than from the PE and that it was nothing to worry about. hope you're ok x

This DID go away for me a while ago. I still get pain in the lung after almost 6 months, but the rattling is definitely gone.

I don't have a rattling, but I do get a fluttering feeling in my chest (the fluttering is separate from the chest pain and isn't painful in itself). The fluttering last just for a few seconds at a time and only occurs a few times a day. I'm hoping that it's part of the healing process (?). Does anyone else have that kind of feeling?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
