Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Ok....I thought for sure that I have been having nausea (morning sickness type, but no chance that I am pregnant!!) and GI problems first thing in the am- loose bowels for the last three months because of the iron (ferrous sulfate 325 mg) that I have had to take because with my PE they also found that I was severely anemic. Anyway.... I begged the doctor to come off the iron tablets for one month to see how I feel. I've been without the iron for three days and I'm still feeling nauseous! ugghh! Now, I'm wondering if any of you have had any "stomach" type problems since starting coumedin or warfain? thanks for any input.... I have anti-nausea meds, but don't want to put any more medicine in my body and just hoping and praying that I can have one month of nausea free living! Look forward to any replies.... I'm hanging in there as best I can!

A friend of mine takes iron supplements, she was taking something called 'Hemax' for a while and that was killing her stomach a lot! she had tried a few others with the same effects but she just recently got one that does not make her sick and actually gives her tons of engergy..she hasnt had follow up blood work yet to see the changes but she feels them and without being sick!
Ill find out the name and get back to you.
GI issues, like nausea, gas, loss of appetite, bloating, cramps, etc can be side effects of the warfarin.
Iron is so hard on the system. I wonder if it takes a while for the effects of the iron supplements to get out of your system.
Severely amemic people are sometimes eligible for an iron transfusion. I think your blood counts need to be below a certain number to qualify. I had an iron transfusion a few months ago due to severe anemia from ulcerative colitis. It's an expensive procedure and it takes an entire day, but it really helped me. I was at the point where I could barely function at work. It takes a couple of weeks to start feeling the effects, but it lasts a few months. Might be worth investigating.
Also, I know a lot of folks suffer from chest pains post PE. For those of you with anemia, that can be the culprit, as it can cause chest pains.
