Pulmonary Embolism Support Group

By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Its been One year!

ONe year ago I had my DVT and PE, 6 months off of coumadin! whoo hoo. Hugs to all of you out there and stay positive it will get better. I still have waves of worry that it will happen again, still can feel that clot behind my knee, wish it would go away, reminded everyday with swelling and pain but im so glad that I am here, to be with my kids, my family. Not a day goes by that I don't think about how lucky i am to be living. It sure does give you a look into what is really important.

Congratulations! I'm 6 months behind you! (And 6 more months of the meds, unfortunately, but hey ... small celebrations are good, too!)

That's wonderful!! I'm so happy for you.... thanks for the encouragement. I've been on warfarin and I'll go off in six more months for testing (first it was only going to be six months, then testing... but my primary care doctor and hemotologist both agree that less reoccurance of clot the longer I'm on anti-coagulants. So I remain patient! Did you get tested immediately and how did your doctor's determine no more meds? Congrats!
