Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I'm "hijacking" a small thread that was talked about in hopper69's discussion about APS. I'm curious about all the women who were on the birth control to "regulate" their mentrual cycle and if any of you have endometriosis?
I had laproscopic surgery over 12 years ago for endometriosis (my primary problem has been horrible cramping and heavy flow=menorrhagia) The surgeon removed many endometrial lesions in my pelvis, on my bladder, my ovaries, my uterus, etc....the medical records documented that I had stage four endo which I think is the highest.
I'm curious if there might really be so correlation between this and PE's for women (sorry guys!) I was reading an article recently on medline and it was talking about hypercoagulable states in our body (the ability of blood to clot) and it mentioned this.... "other signs of coagulopathy= blood clotting include epistaxis (nosebleeds) and menorrhagia (excessively long and heavy periods) So for "too much info", but I also have large clots during this time, as well.
I might be totally off, but it would be interesting to know if any of you have this medical condition along with your PE or DVT?

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
I have Lupus Anticoagulant and I think I read that you have that too??
I do not have endometriosis but a couple of years back I had gyn surgery to remove two small polyps. Both Benign.
However, previous to that I was going to the gyn to complain of heavy periods which is why we found the polyp in the first place. I had the polyp surgery thinking that would end my heavy, clotty periods. It did not. I went back to the gyn and said my periods are still heavy and almost clotty. I am going off thread but I think it should be standsard procedure to test gyn patients who complain of certain menstrual difficulties to test for clotting disorders.
