Almost 6 months ago I went in to the ER because I was spitting up a little blood and had a horrible side ache. After a CT scan they found a clot in my lungs and so started a very long anv very scary 6 month treatment program. I am only 29 and preior to this in good health. However, I had broken my ankle 1 month prior and was never informed of this risks of birth control and long periods of immobility (had a full leg cast) and suffered the P.E. on December 1. It was a horrible 6 days in the hospital and the first night I was released I had a panic attack because I experienced some bleeding. I have since been to the hospital 3xs for falso alarms-chest pain, blood, I'm so paranoid every time I get a shooting pain in the arm or chest or nick myself. I had to pull myself away from the Internet because I was reading stories about people dying without warning and it was making me very sad. Now that I'm 6 days away from getting off coumadin I'm starting to face anxiety. I want my doctor to perform another ct scan to see if the blood clot has dissolved and if the portion of my lung that was affected regenerated itself, but she says it is not neccessary and that even if that potion didn't "come back" it will not affrect my lifestyle. My doctor has agreed to an ultra sound of my legs to hear for other warning signs but I'm so paranoid that I need additonal tests. I'm so uneasy that we are just assuming it went away. My blood tests showed that I am not prone to clots and it was most likely the birth control but mentally I am always going to be like this. Anyone else with a kinda similair situation who has fully recovered or going through the same stress as I am?
