Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I would never try to diagnose you in place of a doctor but if your worried dont feel bad for going to your doctor to have it checked. My doctors are pretty confident that while I am on warfarin it is "highly unlikely" that new clots will form, or existing clots will move, but its always best to be safe than sorry. Ive seen posts on here of people who have had second PE's while on warfarin because of a rare intollerance, but PLEASE dont let that worry you! I think the best thing to remember is, while you are on warfarin (and your levels look good) you are reasonably safe. You know what a PE feels like Im sure, so always look out for that. If your worried, talk to your doctor and they can help you, even if its just to say theres nothing there. All the best!
I get aches and pains all the time and still have to talk myself out of the idea that it is another clot. But, seriously, I think I got aches and pains all the time *before* I ever clotted and just didn't think twice about 'em. I'm way more paranoid now.
I get weird tweaks in my legs (especially my clot leg) if I lie on the couch funny, or sleep in a weird position, or grout a bathroom floor (which I did this weekend). It is hard to tell what to worry about and what not to, but I'd give this a day or so to subside.
If it suddenly gets a lot worse or your leg puffs up huge, I would head to the ER of course ... but otherwise, just stay alert.
