Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
An IVC filter is typically removable for a weeks-long window of time but it sounds like these docs want to put one in permanently. The best evidence is that a permanent IVC filter somewhat reduces the risk of recurrence of PE but dramatically increases the risk of recurrent DVT, with overall mortality unaffected.

Yes, you may still take Coumadin/Warfarin with them. Some doctors, given the associated DVT risks, are more insistent on staying on the treatement if there is an IVC in place. Others are not.
