I've been seeing a Nurse Practitioner that works under the supervision of 2 Neuros. (not sure how much supervision and I've only seen the actual docs 1 time in 2.5 years). I was diagnosed in 2007 with xtreme head pain, stiff neck and an openning pressure of 65. Since then, a few several LPs and chronic daily pain. When the pain get's too severe, I go get tapped ang get IV pain meds. This past week, my openning pressure was 35. At my follow up, the NP says he's questioning whether I even have PTC b/c I don't have papilledema and my last openning pressure of 35 is normal. ??? Today I saw a Nuero surgeon and he said there aren't any surgical options for me since I don't have papilledema. He is ordering another MRI to make sure there isn't another underlying cause. He says the fix is weightloss- I had WL sugery in February and have lost 50 lbs so far. I thought you could have PTC without Papilledema and I thought 20 and below was "normal". Am I seeing the wrong people? I'm in daily hell and I feel like no one knows what they are talking about b/c everything is different and varies. Can someone clarify please?
