My daughter had an LP shunt put in September 2009 but not programmable and she drains spinal fluid 24/7/ 2nd opinion neurosurgeon in St. Louis said she is not a candidage for VP shunt because she has collapsed ventricles. He said she needs a programmable LP shunt and sent us back to original neurosurgeon who said he has never heard of a programmable LP shunt in his 30 years of practice! I know they're out there. If anyone who has one can send me the make/model/company of the most reliable programmable LP shunts I will take the info to this surgeon and get the ball rolling. I guess I will have to be in OR reading him the directions on how to put it in...I'm really disgusted at the moment and just want my daughter fixed with what she should have had in September. Thanks for any help you can give.
