OK, I know some of you are experts in low pressure headaches and I need some advice. My 9 year old has a VP shunt and Paps were noticed to be back last week. LP on Thursday at 9 am and opening pressure 30 with shunt wide open. Friday started vomiting at 1:30 pm and was pale and sleepy, looked horrible. Spent 8 hours in the ER and they did MRI and ventricles are tiny but not collapsed around shunt. I realized when we got home it was low pressure. Horrible when up and normal pain when laying down. Has been sick since 1:30 pm yesterday and is still laying down today and asking for Motrin, says worst pain since diagnosis (not asked for meds in a year). How long can I expect it to last and when do we go back for possible blood patch? He is drinking caffeine and resting. Thanks guys! I think I remember Cath talking about these but we haven't expereienced them.
