So I told you all my CO2/bicarb has been dropping over the last few labs ...this monday it was 17 . It went from 23,21,19 now 17 . Doc called me today and said that it is normal for Diamox and means that the drug is working ??????? Then she says we should lower my dose a little since my paps are improving some . So I am to go from 500 twice daily to 500 in the morning and 250 in the evening . She says that Diamox causes mild Metabolic acidosis for lots of people and a decrease like that is not worrisome . So then why am I questioning this ? I dunno . I guess I don't need another thing to worry about . She asked me if I was having any symptoms ...and I am like ...like what ??? She later told me that if my husband ever has any trouble rousing me then I should worry . I think she was trying to be funny cause I am a pest . And that's ok.... I don't mind being a pest .
Anyway .....another thing . If your pressure goes up at night while you are asleep , as I have read about , then why would she lower the evening dose first ? Anyone have any idea about this ?
I would drill her more but I already do quite a bit lol !
What is the lowest your bicarb has been ????
Thanks
Faye
BTW - My daughter , Christine , is going to fly in from Phoenix for my angiogram on the 18th to help me care for the little boys and I am excited about seeing her !!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
electrolytes tested at least every two months or so . Diamox can deplete your potassium among other things . Bicarb/co2 are one of these tests . Many of us on Diamox also take potassium .
I posted this somewhere else yesterday: I drink a quart of Coconut Water every day. It hydrates and has the potassium of more than two bananas. I also drink lots of water, but this has been a godsend, as it also took away those tingly feelings. I am trying to go as "natural" as possible in foods I eat and trying to avoid medicine, but I have to be on Diamox for now. Hope this helps.
