Prolactinoma Support Group
A prolactinoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland that produces a hormone called prolactin. It is the most common type of pituitary tumor. Symptoms of prolactinoma are caused by too much prolactin in the blood or by pressure of the tumor on surrounding tissues. Prolactin stimulates the breast to produce milk during pregnancy. After delivery of the baby, a mother's...
6 month after normal reading the tumor did not show on MRI.
My prolactin levels were in the thousands, ie 2,000 - 4,000!
After taking Dostinex, levels came down to 80-100s. New Endo took me off Dostinex after 10 years, saying tumour had probably gone, but levels rose to 312 two years ago. I must get new tests done, but have been avoiding it. My instinct tells me they're rising again. Headaches, vision deterioratig etc. - must stop avoiding - but have had enough grief!! Finally marrried - just want some happiness for a while - sick of all the tests etc.
Everyone else's levels seem so low compared to mine - can't understand that one... yet my tumour is supposed to be small! (I don't believe it's gone - why would levels rise when I stopped taking Dostinex?) Think my new Endo is unrealistically optimistic!!
