Prolactinoma Support Group
A prolactinoma is a benign tumor of the pituitary gland that produces a hormone called prolactin. It is the most common type of pituitary tumor. Symptoms of prolactinoma are caused by too much prolactin in the blood or by pressure of the tumor on surrounding tissues. Prolactin stimulates the breast to produce milk during pregnancy. I know a number of you will find the following to be problematic and not agree with what I am about to post, but I feel it has to be mentioned.
I have been an endocrine patient since before 1978, (that is when I had my Pituitary surgery).
Prior to that date and since, I have experienced many endo-related medical problems over the years. In addition, both of my parents have their own particular endocrine problems.
If, science had been advanced in 1947, when I was born, and genetic testing had been available, it would have helped to better understand the potential medical future of all of us. It surprises me to hear men and women claim the desire of having a child when they are in the claws of dealing with an endocrine problem themselves. Does it ever occur to you that God is telling you something about your inability to get pregnant? When I was born, I had a cerebral hemorrhage.
They did not expect me to live. But I had many illness during my childhood, that were not childhood norms. It held me back physically and gave me many challenging moments in school, due unidentified visual problems.
Over the years, I have met and spoken with many people who have had their own endocrine issues and "WONDERED" and "QUESTIONED" the reason for their children having similar medical problems. A light should go on and tell these people that when one or both parents have a certain disease, the chances of the off-spring to develop the same or similar problem increases.
I know in my own case, I was told years before I met my husband that I should not and possibly could not get pregnant. Knowing how my medical history was developing, I was not eager to bring a child into the world and have to experience his or her own medical issues.
It is a responsibility to be a parent, but if you are suffering your own medical issues, and are finding more and more problems are ganging up on you as the years go by, your ability to care for the child decreases.
It would seem reasonable for couples, dealing with their own medical issues, to seek the guidance of genetic doctors in discovering if they have any issues that would reflect on a child.
Think of the off-spring, think of your own health and be responsible for the future of your lives.
Take care and good luck

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
