I did post more history to my question in the cocaine addicts support forum , as well as in the family and friends of addicts forum .
There I put more details of my ex's history of use .
I'll brief it . He since 9 has been abusing alchohol, then pot, then painkillers, then junior year in highschool began using coke, and smack . First snorting then shooting .
He is now 28 . The whole 4 yrs I've been with him he has always been abusing /using something .
He went to intreatment last fall . But was using coke after a month of getting out.
Finally I split up with him about 8 wks ago .
He wants to see our baby , I won't let him .
He says he is sober ( but I know he is keeping the same druggie friends around , and I know of relapses ( he admitted to , like percocets, coke etc. ) since our breakup .
Recently he has been saying he is going in for some dental surgery . He claims he will be using pain meds t hen . vicoden , or something ...
My question comes in here ...
If you are in recovery wouldn't this cause a relapse to be prescribed opiates ( pain meds ? )
As recovering addicts , those of you who really want to stay sober and are working the steps to stay sober. .. would you accept a prescription and feel it wouldn't lead to problems for you .
What do recoverd addicts do in a situation of needing dental work ? Do you have to refuse the meds ?
WHat should he be doing ideally, please take into acct his history , and stuff.
Insight and opinions needed . Is it just me , or should he stay the heck away from the pain meds ?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

Just to clarify ... we are recently split up , he was drinking heavily , and then relapsed with cocaine and went out all night with heroin addict friends.
To me this is something I can't tolerate while having young influencial children in the house.
Didn't seem to me he was choosing recovery .
Not even working a program , or any of the steps .
ps you're a good mama
