does anyone know how young is too young for a ftus to be viabl outside the womb? And what would be the youngest you've ever head of?

I was 23 weeks, I know for sure of a 21 weeker

I thought it was 22 weeks now being considered viable... It gets younger every day.. Medical science is getting so much better...

I think the age is usually 24 weeks BUT it also depends on what kind of hospital you are at. There are different levels of NICU's and not all have the professionals and equiptment needed. My daughter was a 24 weeker. But I do know of other parents who had 24 weekers and were told there was nothing that could be done.

24 weeks is considered viable. But it also depend on the baby. Some 23 weekers will have good chance but anything under 23 weeks is extremly rare. There are miracles but still most that young won't make it. Also some babies older than 24 weeks will die soon after birth. Only at 28 weeks the survival rate is 90%.
