Of course there is a higher incidence of learning disabilities, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, etc but I'm talking about depression, anxiety... that type of stuff... Does anyone know if there is a correlation? I read in a medical journal that as little kids (the age the used in the example was 7 yrs old) they can get nervous when things are chaotic/loud and kind of 'shut off' because that is what they had to do as babies when the doctors hurt them... Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I've dealt with depression/ anxiety and many docs have thought it was because of being in the NICU for 6 months... but it seems farfetched to me... So, I just wanted to know if anyone else has heard of preemies dealing with mental health issues later in life
