Hi...I am 26 years old, 16 weeks pregnant and have the option of getting the triple screen test in 2 days for down syndrome and spinal bifida. I have heard there are alot of false positives and I'm really nervous about getting the test results and then having to worry for another 5 months. I wanted to get some opinions on this from others who have chosen to get the test or not get the test and why. What have been your experiences with this?

I got it done with my daughter and this one. Some choose not because they say they are going to love them no matter what. I choose to get it because I will love my child no matter what, but that is something that you need to prepare for yourself. I do believe thought that if you do have the test and it comes out positive they just don't leave you in the air like that. I mean you will probably have more test to confirm whether your child really does have down syndrom or spina bifa. When it is something serious like that, doc's like to be sure and do more test to make sure that the test are right. It is a personal decision that you have to make. I don't see the harm in getting it done. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I went to a fetal diagnostic screening specialist who can determine DS or SB via ultrasound with special ultrasonic waves. It was interesting, I got to watch my baby on the screen for about 25 minutes during the process, I got 3D pictures & 4D (dvd) as well. It was amazing. I chose to have it done as it wouldn't matter to me if there was something wrong, I just wanted to be prepared if there was. Going the route I went lowers the false test results drastically. Best of luck.

I get the test just to prepare myself to, there are false negatives and positives (but I heard once it was because the due dates where off) Either way its not a mandatory test. I would love my child regardless but I can imagine that if, on the day s/he was born that I found out I would be devastated (and that is such an emotional time anyway) and it would probably be harder for me to adjust then.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
