Long story short - I thought before Christmas I had a UTI. 2 urine tests came back negative but I still have the urge to go to the bathroom just about constantly. I went to my doctor's yesterday and they said when they tested my urine, my sugar was high so they sent me for bloodwork today. It could be diabetes (I'm 17 1/2 weeks), but they aren't sure if it's gestational or not. He said it just could be I was a borderline diabetic before and didn't know it. Or, since all my cultures are negative, it could be an overactive bladder in which case I can't take any of the conventional treatments. How many of you have had or have now gestational diabetes? How are you managing it? I'm not worried about the change in diet or exercise (although I thought I was doing pretty well with that before) I guess I'm most worried about the effects this could have on the baby. I know babies born to moms with diabetes can be bigger and there can be more birth complications...
