I had my 30 weeks apointment today and all is perfect but she wants me to get a flu shot since I'm due in Jan..... I've NEVER gotten the flu shot and the last time I was sick was years ago. I dont like taking meds (I dont even take advil) and I believe that we should let our bodies build its own immune system, but shes got me a little scared :S

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

News Review From Harvard Medical School -- Study: Pregnancy Flu Shot Protects Baby
Pregnant women who get a flu shot can protect their babies too, a study suggests. This could help babies under age 6 months, in particular. Flu vaccine is not recommended for these babies because it hasn't been proven safe for them. The study included 340 women and their babies. Half received a flu shot while pregnant. The others did not get shots. Researchers kept track of the women for 24 weeks after the births. Babies born to women who got flu shots were 63% less likely to get flu. They also had lower rates of other respiratory illness. HealthDay News wrote about the study September 17. It was published online by the New England Journal of Medicine.
Even though I will be the primary caretaker of my child, you never know where they could get it (a trip to the grocery store where someone sneezes or touches them, a family member who didn't wash his/her hands and has the flu, etc.) I didn't want to take any chances. It's kinda like car insurance. You could be the best/safest driver ever, but who's to say that some careless jerk won't run into you? That's why we have insurance! So, that's how I see this also.
I haven't gotten sick from it. Just a pretty sore arm.
