I am currently still in Afghanistan, and they surprised me with this ultrasound machine, which looks like something that my five year old neice would play with. It was a hand held one. First, the Lt starts looking at my belly. I was nervous because it took him so long, so I started to panic. He didn't mention at the time that he's only done it twice. And before I knew it, there was a black spot with a little bitty baby inside. (The baby's head is huge!) They told me right away they could see a heartbeat, which made me feel SO much better! Because it was such an ancient machine, I kept asking if I could see it. The assistant that was holding it kept moving, and this made the Lt keep moving and having to find the baby again. Finally they got situated, and I saw my baby!!!! I saw it's head, its tiny little body and its heartbeat! What an indescribable feeling!!!! They put me at 15w 2d. This poor little baby has been in Afghanistan for the last 3.5 months! My baby is a war hero! (haha.) I am so, so, so, SO THANKFUL everything looks good!
