I'm wondering what your thoughts are about undergoing this invasive test. I am 37 and so technically this test is recommended for me, however, I am concerned about the potential risks to the baby. It seems to me that we could test for problems via the maternal blood test and through ultrasound, and first look for problems before undergoing this procedure--rather than just do it automatically.
There is nothing in my genetic background that is putting me at higher risk for any chromosomal problems, again it's just my age that seems to warrant this test. This is my second pregnancy but since I was under 35 last time round, this test wasn't an issue. I'd appreciate your thoughts!
Thanks!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Just relax its normal to worry what ever your age is.
Especially when all the books are saying that at 35 you are high risk. Rubish i am fit and healthy and eat very well.
Thanks for all your replies--this was very helpful. I think I'm going to first go for the non-invasive tests (e.g. my blood tests; ultrasound) to see if there are any red flags, before I dare think about this more risky procedure.
