At 17 weeks pregnant my Dr. said i had an abnormal blood screening for Trisomy 18, a rare genetic disorder resulting in either infant death of severe mental and physical delays. I need a amnioscentesis to confirm or deny the accuracy of the blood screening. Is anyone familiar with this disorder? has anyone ever had an abnormal blood screening?

You do not have to have the test done it is optional. If it is just a blood test for you it wont hurt the baby but if it is an amniocentesis then there is a 1 to every 100 chance to have a miscarriage just from the procedure.
