Pregnancy - Teens Support Group
This community is dedicated to the experience of being pregnant as a teenager. Pregnant teenagers face many of the same obstetrics issues as women in their 20s and 30s. However, there are additional medical concerns for younger mothers, particularly those under 15 and those living in developing countries. For mothers between 15 and 19, age in itself is not a risk factor,...
They shoud be proud of you for keeping your baby!
Amazingly being young and pregnant I havn't actually gotten that many dirty looks at all!!
YET!!
They don't deserve your attention if they are going to look at you like that!
Keep you r head up high and look straight past them if they try to give you any looks!

What the hell do they know about your parenting? I think I had it bad until I saw how bad my friend has it, her babies father is dark. The looks she got were soooo much worst than the ones i have ever got.
You will always be judged on how you look. Whether it be the way you dress, the age you are or your race. The fact of the matter is what those people think of you really means nothing in the long run. What really matters is what you think of you.
Just because you are young, a different race or not dressed nicely DOES NOT mean you are not a good mother.
If you child is fed and has clothes and is happy you are doing fine! Eventually you do get used to those looks and don't even notice them anymore.
As for trying to look younger there is no point. I looked 21 when I had my son and I was still given those looks. With ladies having babies later and later it is now common for anyone under 25-30 to be considered a "young mum" and while that don't face the same amount of prejudice as us they do have to face the pathetically outdated and dangerous advice that people seem compelled to give as well as some looks as well.
Don't try and look old, if you want to do anything look nice. Dress in nice cloths, have your child in nice cloths and forget about how old you look.
You know for Mary to be a virgin and unmarried she would have had to have been around 12. Just thought I would throw that is for you to see.
There is evidence suggesting young mums do have a easier time as they can cope with the break in routine where as a 30-40 yo is used to a set routine and when the break happens it is harder for them to deal with the lack of sleep and other lovely things. So whenever someone says something about how hard it must be for you to look after a baby, think of that lovely fact and smile and just agree and point out that even though it is hard you are doing a good job.
Seems I got off track a bit didn't I?
Good luck
Rita
