This community is dedicated to the experience of being pregnant as a teenager. Pregnant teenagers face many of the same obstetrics issues as women in their 20s and 30s. However, there are additional medical concerns for younger mothers, particularly those under 15 and those living in developing countries. For mothers between 15 and 19, age in itself is not a risk factor,...
I have twins on both sides so I am surprised I only have one!!
Next only fraturnal twins are a genetic triat passed down. This is where there are two eggs and the babies are non identical. Identical twins have nothing to do with family they just happen. So first of all find out who in your family is a twin....grandmother/grandfather, aunt/uncle and such and find out what type. Non identical than yes there is a small chance you too may have twins if however your family has idnetical twins than no you do not carry the trait.
Other things like race, age, being overwieght, hormones and number of previous children factor into having twins.
The older you are the more likely you are to have twins, the more children you have the more likely you are to have twins, ladies from Africa have the most amount of twins while asians have the least, being overweight also increases the chance of having twins. Hope this helps, I am pregnant with non identical twins right now so feel free to ask anymore questions and if i can't answer them i am sure one of the ladies I know who have twins can.
