Hi,
I don't wish to sound controversial, but I am really keen to discuss different subjects on Religion, So here goes:-
Last summer I spent two weeks in France, and whilst I was traveling I went to the city of Bergerac.
In the city centre was a Cathedral called Notre Dam. I went inside and was totally blown away by the deep feeling of the religious experience, it really was amazing, just the spiritual power of this place.
Well and it got me wondering, was this because it was a Catholic Cathedral?
I know that my love and affection for God runs very deep through me, but is the fact that Henry VIII invented
the anglican religion, so that he could excommunicate himself from the power of the Catholic church and divorce his wives, the reason that some of our churches and cathedrals just feel like rather shabby and forgotten old buildings?? Does God align himself closer to the original Catholic version of worship??
Or is it that people in England no longer pay to God, the deep seated spiritual worship and respect that they should??
I don't wish to upset anyone with this post... OK, so please don't be offended for me mentioning this!!!!
Love and Peace to you all... Dave

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I'm not sure that it matters what religion you are. I do know that some places i've felt the spirit more than other places.
There is a Franciscan Monastery not far from here and there are paths and statues through-out the paths as well. These paths follow along the ocean. It is quiet and serene there. There is an alter there for praying, a place where people leave written notes, and other things.
The last time I went there I felt very close to god, and I prayed. I have not had that spiritual feeling often, but that day I did.
I do think that in this Country that there is still a class war going on, and that middle/upper class people claim
to be egalitarian, but are extremely snobby and intolerant and look down upon lower social/economic classes, and in fact dominate through the Church and social standing.
Screw over their fellow workers all week and claim a clear conscience in church on Sundays.
i always believe that the holiness of a place has to do with those who live or usually visit .We all have energy and if a church is primarily inhabited by thoughts and spirits which are more of fear(of god, class inequality, etc) thats probably what will remain in the building.
On the flip side u cd go to a tiny cottage of a loving prayerful individual and feel tremendous loviing ,spiritual energy.
I dont believe any religion is more holy or less than another.God can be called within any place or time.the belief, love makes evrything..
it always has.
