propranolol and PTSD treatment

deleted_user
Hello,
I recently saw a 60 minutes show on the use of propranolol to treat PTSD and memory.
Pretty much this drug was used to ELIIMNATE the symptoms of PTSD by dampening the memories of the human brain. It was VERY interesting, and offered a "cure" for PTSD people.
I was wondering if anyone else has done any research on this drug/treatment.
Here is the link to the article, very interesting indeed:

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Though the research is on using it RIGHT AFTER the Trauma.
Not necessarily years later...BUT, I DO believe there is relevance to using Propranolol even years later, simply to block adrenaline...and may possibly even be useful in trauma therapy when you recreate the scenario, and use it as such in that video.
But, no research has been done on using it AFTER the Trauma...and recreating the scenarios...if there has been, it's few and far between...
It's a promising drug...I was on it, and plan to consider getting back on it after my consultation with my New Pdoc.
They use Propranolol in Stage fright already...PTSD'ers have HIGH amounts of adrenaline pumping through them all the time..so Propranolol makes sense!!
The Va is doing tons of research, I know Propranolol is on their list and is on the list in the clinicaltrials.gov site.
Very Promising Drug! As with Prazosin as well, another heart drug.
It is recreating a trigger memory and taking the med. Then listening to a tape of the memory and taking the med. It works. I did it to myself. No reaction to that trigger EVER now. The problem is having to do it for myself. I have been BEGGING for a therapist since May? June? It is an emotional experience and no one wants to trigger themselves on purpose and have to be alone while going through the whole trigger. WAY INTENSE. I don't have the balls (well, the internal strength right now) to do it again. Too much else has globbed on since the first go round. I need a "safe place" with a 3rd party before I go there again.
