Don't want 2 go on drugs & trying 2 stay open minded & willing, cuz I know it goes a lng way in recovery. Was officially diagnosed P.T.S.D. 2day. The doc described it as an 'umbrella effect'~ that the symptoms can manifest n many different ways. I'm typically more depressive, but also issues with anxiety, & sometimes hypermanic overdrive...wht is your experience with this drug?
Has ne1 tried acupuncture, holistic remedy, etc. What should I try 1st- I hve sum serious trust issues with docs & drugs...

theatre and I are there already. I'm having a very berry tea with crackers, cheese and cherry tomatoes and she's having a joint with some beer and we're both on really comfy recliners on thick pile carpet. we need some help with the decor if anyone is around??
It's a mood stabilizer, so will help to stabilize those depressive-manic moods. In PTSD, mood variability is prevalent. PLUS...it helped to pull me out of depression some.
Much research is being done on PTSD right now by the VA...and I think I had posted something on acupuncture....do a search on acupuncture, and look under the PTSD forum. There should be something there about it.
Trust issues are a biggie for us PTSD'ers....but PTSD is a major physiolgic based disorder. It's anxiety based...but its physiologic cascade opens up more doors than just plain Psych and neuro-transmitters...It's a blend of BOTH.
IMO, holistic therapies may be good in conjunction with meds and therapy...but not as a sole first-line agent when first getting treated for PTSD.
