I am so frustrated. My insurance just kicked in, and I had two rude awakenings:
Mental health goes on the 'major med' part, in which there is a $5,000 deductible, and the perscription plan ONLY covers generics. What that means is that I work one week with overtime for my rent, one week for my meds, one for my doctor's visits one for utilities, one for gas, one..... There's just not enough weeks in the month.
Here is my dilemma. I have been on Effexor XR for 4 years and it is working well. There is not a generic formula for Effexor XR (extended release) but there is for Effexor. Has anyone taken the Effexor in lower doses several times a day and does it provide the same relief from anxiety that Effexor XR does? It makes a difference of about $250 for a 30 day supply.
I have written to Wyeth to see if there is any perscription assistance for people in my situation but have not heard back from them yet. Does anyone know about perscription assistance for anyone who is under-insured? Just the thought of having to change meds that work well form my anxiety is causing me..... Well, anxiety.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
SO...I think if you can keep up with the timing of taking the Effexor throughout the day....you might be ok, and it should hold your anxiety as well.
I am not sure about other prescription plans for under-insured....you might try talking with a social worker at a local hospital...just even calling their social work department there...they deal with med issues and insurance issues a lot. They might have something.
Do they do mail-order pharmacy?? That can save some money too...Check into that.
I don't know what all is on Walmart's $4 script list...but you could check out their website and see what might happen to be there.

Some public mental health centers also give you free meds if your income is low enuf. Wal-Mart offers $4 scripts on 300 generic medications but that wouldn't help you with the Effexor XR.
