Today I went to my first appointment with a new OB/GYN. I was not happy at all with the experience. I know that I am heavy, I have always been. I know that it is not healthy. I have struggled and have been trying to loose weight for YEARS. I know that it is a major issue with my PCOS. I also know that I should not have put on 30+ lbs in about 6 months. Especially not when I have changed my diet and exercise habits for the better. You would think that a doctor would take all this into consideration. Well, it fell on deaf ears today. It was like as soon as I walked into the office and he realized I was overweight, all he would talk about was that I needed to loose weight. That would solve all my problems. I know that loosing weight would help tremendously! I am not stupid! I WANT HELP! I came to him for help in doing so! For advice--- I have been TRYING and NOTHING is happening. I have even GAINED weight. When someone increases exercise and decreases calorie intake, shouldn't weight loss occur? If it hasn't, wouldn't a doctor be concerned that something else might be going on? (Especially in someone diagnosed with PCOS) I have had breakthrough bleeding between periods (and I am on the pill), pelvic pain, major acne breakouts, and no energy. I explained all these things to him, and he just wouldn't get off of the kick about loosing weight. I want to be better. I went to the doctor for some help and got none. He didn't recommend anything different than the things I am already trying. He would not prescribe any meds. He wouldn't even change my birth control. He said that the breakthrough bleeding wasn't a big deal and to call if it happened again. I don't know where to go from here. I have tried to loose weight to no avail. I have tried so many different things. I just want to be better. I really don't know where to go from here. Any advice would be appreciated!
