If you haven't a clue sometimes how hard it is for doctors to actually LISTEN to you - read my journal. If you are a DOCTOR - READ my journal and LISTEN to people.
What's wrong? I called my doctor today to find out he has removed PCOS from my diagnosis because even though I have all of the symptoms there aren't any cysts on my overaries. Now we are back to the beginning. I'm not sure I can' take this going back again!
So my question: 1) Has anyone else been diagnosed with PCOS without having cysts show up?
2) Anyone with a suggestion before I just cry myself to sleep?

not all ladies with PCOS actually have cysts. these are just one of the numerous symptoms. and as with most syndromes not all of the symptoms show up for every case. Id suggest a second opinion and maybe study up a little on it. You may not have PCOS but then you may. When you know for sure then you can deal with it in a way that suits you. Just remember every case is different.

Yes, I was told I have a "mild case" of PCOS. I do not fit the typical profile of some one with PCOS and I do not have cysts. However, it could be causing me problems with infertility. I would definitely get a second opinion and try and find a Dr. who listens and who cares. Believe me, I know how you feel. I switched Dr.'s at least 2 times before I finally found a good one. Hang in there and don't give up.

Hi Syreena, i'm a physician AND I have PCOS. I also don't have any cysts...There are only 3 diagnostic criteria that the NIH has published: 1)clinical or lab evidence of hyperandrogenism: acne, problems with excess hair, male pattern balding 2)less than 9 periods a year 3)no other explanation for your symptoms (adrenal problems, etc.) I would seek a second opinion. If you are trying to get pregnant, see a reproductive endocrinologist. If not, just see a regular endocrinologist and/or an OB/Gyn. And don't cry! it'll be okay. I was diagnosed about a 2 weeks ago so i know how you feel. there are ways to treat it if you do have it.

Syreena don't you let them piss you off! Girl we have been friends a long time, and what Shabina says is RIGHT ON! I KNOW you have PCOS based on all the things we have discussed. Tell the Doc you are smart enough to know you have PCOS and that you expect him to treat you as if you do :) HUGS GF Kathy (aka Parfie)

My first doc at the hospital said I was ok as my blood results and scan were ok. I moved and was referred to a different hospital and was told that I had no cysts on the one ovary they could find on the scan (couldn't see the other very well) and as I had a lot of symptoms I did have PCOS and gave me metformin to try. I went back 3 months later and they confirmed the diagnosis.

I would go for a second opinion. It wouldn't do any harm and explain your symptoms. I took a diary which I did of all my symptoms and period problems.

Thank you so much - I have decided to ask my OB to refer me to a Endrocronologist (sp).

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
