Hi everyone I have been a member of this group for a few months but this is my first time ever writting a discussion post, but anywayz. I was just wondering what significance taking birth control pills at a younger age before trying to get pregnant has to do with when you actually want to have kids. The doctor gave me birth control pills to get my period when I was 16 and 17 but since i was 18 I have not been on them and I get a period about 6-8 times a year. I have heard that for the future I should go back on them and get my full 12 times a year for a better chance of conciveing children in the future. Can someone please tell me how this works since when I am trying to concieve a child this option will not be available to me?

My understanding was that the BC helps regulate your hormone levels to get your body in sync the way it should be. When I went off BC to try to get pregnant, my Dr. put me immediately on Metformin to do the same. If you do NOT want to be on birth control, maybe ask your doc about Metformin, or other options.

I'm on BC and Metformin. The BC is just to regulate the hormones and help with the symptoms such as irregularity, acne, etc. As far as conceiving goes though, it has no effect except to prevent it, obv. The Metformin helps for weight loss and facial hair related to insulin resistance, so if you notice that you can't seem to do anything about the weight, it's something you should def talk to your doctor about. All the doctors will tell me is because I'm young, I have time to worry about conceiving later. If you think you may be trying to conceive soon though I would see an OB that specializes in PCOS because I worry sometimes waiting any amount of time could greatly affect your chances at getting pregnant in the future.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
