I was diagnosed with PKD in August amongst other disorders that will make for a difficult pregnancy. No one else in my family has been diagnosed with PKD, but I dont really know a lot about my mothers family. I want to know if anyone can give me any advice or hope regarding pregnancy with PKD. I am so scared that I will pass this on to my baby before its even born. I cant seem to get a lot of information from my doctors, they just say it happens but its pretty rare. Please help

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
There was a news report that out of seven kids, 3 had it while 4 didn't.
I think your doctors can answer you, but you have to ask the right doctor. Find a geneticist. He/She can run the test.
I am not in a position to have a family right now, but I was given two options to have a non-PKD family.
1) Have normal conception with genetic testing on fetus for the PKD genes. Abort if positive.
2) Fertilize eggs in a test tube and pick the non-PKD ones.
I don't understand why your doctors say its rare. 0.002 may be a small amount but not when its out of 6 billion people (12 million+ PKDers worldwide).
Lots of people have had several kids knowing they have PKD.
All of us have to live our lives and not let it get to us.
You may have to just change a few things like eat healthier and exercise more but you were going to do that anyways, right?!
Everything will turn out fine!
