Physical & Emotional Abuse Support Group
Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

I have heard people drop the terms Trauma Bond and Stolkhome Syndrome. I tried to google it - but what was said was a good bit above my head ... can anyone tell me - enlighten me as to what this is all about?? Thanks a bunch...

I think it means that thru isolation and "brainwashing" the abuser, who is the victims sole provider of sorts (food, shelter, human contact) the victim starts to idenitfy and/or sympathize with the abuser.

Trauma bonds are not necessarily made to the original abuser. You can suffer the trauma in other relationships and then bond with someone as a way to either try and heal that trauma or to re-experience it in some way. I read the book "Betrayal Bond" and it discusses a lot regarding trauma bonding. I recommend it.

Stockholmes Syndrome is not only identifying with the abuser, the victim feels as though they have fallen in love with the abuser. Because the abuser has taken so much from the victim, the victim is extremely greatful when the abuser gives a little relief (no abuse, food, a little freedom, etc..). As trace10 stated it is a form of brainwashing. This is very common is domestic violence victims.

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
