Abuse is a general term for the treatment of someone that causes some kind of harm (to the abused person, to the abusers themselves, or to someone else) that is unlawful or wrongful. No one deserves abuse, period. Abuse can be emotional, physical, or sexual.

Does talk therapy help you deal better with the abuse of the past? I dont find that it helps talking about it. Just makes me dwell on it again.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
"rehashing" what has happened to you is only helpful if you have buried it so deep that it has the probablility of exploding on you one day. Once your abusive relationship is "out of the closet" (so to speak) then rehashing what happened doesn't really do anything. It is much more important to focus on how it might have altered your present and look to the future.
Part of my healing process is writing down what I'm feeling when I'm stressed over something(helps me to clarify underlying historical issues). I find talking *doesn't* help me any. I'm just spewing out what seems like a broken record.
